I was working on twisted grip dead lifts to passé or pike, transitioning from that twisted grip to a regular grip and either hooking the new inside or outside foot hook into bow & arrow; which as you see can be done with either foot. The difference is what you want to transition into after; either the inside thigh hold or the outside foot hold. I know the inside thigh hold is called pegasus but I'm not sure if the outside foot hold is also called a pegasus but a variation.
My goal here is to show you how I use my recorded videos to build combos. I look at all the details in between rounds to see where I want to make corrections. It can take many rounds to build and remember each little detail. This time I only had 4 good rounds in 20 minutes.
Because I didn't have much time I didn't get to put all my favorite details together in one run, it's scattered. So as i look back I make mental notes for next practice. This is an attempt to capture some of these thoughts, and show you what I see.
First round: A cleaner transition into an outside leg bow and arrow. Transitioning into inside leg pegasus would have been better if I didn't try to grab, just run my hand over my leg as it threads through the hole. Maybe even hold that fang position before transitioning to straight legs. Angle was off, so try to eliminate too much swaying movement and hold muscles tight.
Second Round: Not too fond of the transition into outside leg bow & arrow, I needed to initiate the body twist from twisted grip to regular grip first. Unravel split faster and cleaner. The transition from bow & arrow to pegasus needed to be more like the first round with a straight outside leg hang to maintain that small hole you have to slip your inside leg through. The rest I love, the pegasus split, to stag, to x was on point.
Third Round: This is the inside leg bow & arrow which looks pretty slick in passé the whole transition into it. However the split is more turned out into a middle split position. It's also really easy to transition into the foot hold, all you have to do is bring that free outside leg back and grab with your new forearm hook. Then the previously hooked foot can release downwards. I also want to hold more abstract poses during the transition, like sitting cross legged or sitting knee to knee with feet slightly apart.
Round 4 wasn't my favorite, but has some interesting shapes and angles.
So that's all I got for now, isn't it so interesting how little variations can make such huge differences!?!
If there is a different name for that outside leg foot hold let me know!
